As we enter our 62nd year of Little League Baseball here in Moorpark, the 2020 MPLL Board encourages you to be prepared and informed for the upcoming Spring 2020 season.
Registration for the Spring, 2020 season runs Nov. 2nd through Jan. 11th Registration is done completely on-line. To get started, simply click on the registration banner at the top of the Moorpark Little League Website.
Any Manager, Coach and Parent volunteers will also register using the same registration method on-line.
The 2020 Board has a desire to build off of the successes from the previous seasons, celebrating the 12U All-Star's 2nd place finish in the Southern California Championships and the record number of Machine Pitch registrants from the 2019 season. We are working hard for preparation for this season.
The key focus of Moorpark Little League is to build around player development at all levels of experience as well offer those players whose primary sport is baseball an outlet to compete year round.
To help prepare for the upcoming season, please read and be informed about the division structure within Moorpark Little League. It is set up in order to provide a greater emphasis on player growth and development and preparation for higher division play.
T-Ball (age 4-6) is the non-competitive division with a focus on fielding and hitting fundamentals.
Machine Pitch (age 5-7) This is a semi-competitive division with focus on hitting from a pitched ball and fielding fundamentals. The first part of the season (prior to spring break) will be under a similar format of t-ball with a non-competitive format. After spring break, the rules are adjusted into a more competitive format with a goal to keep the fielders more engaged in the game and better prepare players for the Farm division. If you are a league age 5 year old player, you must have played 1 season on T-Ball with Moorpark Little League to qualify for Machine Pitch. It is HIGHLY recommended to review and become familiar with the local rules (available under the documents section of the website).
Farm (age – 7-8) This is a competitive division where players are introduced to player pitch baseball. Player evaluations are required and teams are formed through a player draft. (Roster requests are not accommodated as with T-Ball or Machine Pitch.) Any league age 8 year old who is new to the sport will be placed in this division automatically to develop and prepare for the next competitive division.
AA (age 8-10) This is a competitive division intended for league age 9 year olds, however, experienced league age 8 players may be evaluated for AA and be added to the AA Draft. League age 10 year old who are new to the sport or are evaluated to not be ready for AAA may be placed in this division. Player evaluations are required. This division was established with a focus on player development. For example, a 9 year old who wants to develop pitching or 10 year olds newer to the sport, will now have a greater opportunity for development in this division.
***League Age 8 Year Old players who register for AA, will be evaluated for both Farm and AA. This does NOT guarantee the player will be drafted in the division. It is possible, based on evaluation and draft for the player to be placed in Farm.
AAA (age 9-11) This is a competitive division intended for league age 10 year olds with a focus of preparing for the Majors division. Some league age 9 year olds, depending on evaluation and draft, and league age 11 year olds either new to the sport or not quite ready for Majors may be placed in this division. Player evaluations are required.
***League Age 9 and 10 Year Old players who register for AAA, will be evaluated for AAA. This does NOT guarantee the player will be drafted in the division. It is possible, based on evaluation and draft for the player to be placed in AA.
Majors (age 11-12) This is a competitive division known as the Little League Baseball division. Player evaluations are required. Division is intended for team and player development for higher levels of play.
***League Age 11 Year Old players who register for Majors, will be evaluated for majors. This does NOT guarantee the player will be drafted in the division. It is possible, based on evaluation and draft for the player to be placed in AAA.
Juniors (age 13-14) This is a competitive division played using a conventional 90 foot diamond with the focus of next level competition and preparedness for other competitive arenas including High School and other leagues.
We encourage you to explore the links and documents posted and available on this website to get familiar with the process, rules, etc...
Coaches: Moorpark Little League is 100% run on volunteers. We depend on volunteer coaches in order to have a successful season. Registration to volunteer is done in the same manner as registering your child, simply click on the registration banner and complete the form. The league does its best to fulfill and place all coaches, but at times some divisions have more coach requests than players / teams. In those cases, the league will communicate with those on the situation and confirm, prior to player evaluations on placement as a coach. With MPLL, the main for coaching, is just that, coaching and preparing their team for play.
Last season, MPLL tested paying plate umpires to ensure all of our games are covered, this was sucsessful and we are looking to grow this through development of Junior Umpires. If you have a High School aged kid interested in making some extra money and loves baseball, encourage them to give it a try! Training is required!
Please visit and review the updates on the Moorpark Little League Website. We'll be updating our league calendar and web page as we get closer to the spring season!
If you have any questions please send them to email@example.com. We look forward to a fun and successful 2020 season and beyond!
